Landscaping Your New Home in Tampa

A Florida-Friendly yard doesn’t merely offer beautiful landscapes — it also becomes an asset to the environment, protecting natural resources and preserving Florida’s unique beauty. Recognizing that the home landscape is part of a larger natural system will help in creating a Florida-friendly yard. We approach this by putting the right plants in the right place. One tree can absorb over one ton of carbon dioxide during its lifespan. Landscaping improves our air quality.  This is one more way that Southern Crafted Homes works to preserve and enhance the environment.

Micro-Irrigation in Your New Homes in Tampa

Posted on: February 9th, 2011 by admin No Comments

Micro-irrigation, commonly referred to to as “drip” or “low-voume” irrigation, offers a way to maintain or improve landscape quality while saving water. Originally developed in the United Kingdom after World War II, micro-irrigation is used extensively by farmers in Israel and United States to grow agricultural and ornamental crops and is increasingly being used in traditional landscape applications. In many regions worldwide where water is scarce, it provides an opportunity for crop production.

When designed and used correctly, micro-irrigation can improve the efficiency of landscape irrigation through the precise application of water. Micro-irrigation emitters have a maximum flow rate of 30 gallons per hour (gph), or 0.5 gallons per minute (gpm). In contrast, traditional spray and rotor sprinklers can apply water at a rate of over 3 gpm.

Southern Crafted Homes employs the use of micro-irrigation as part of their Eco-Crafted brand of homes to ensure maximum water conservation. It is all part of our efforts to conserve our environment.
